Beriani Ipoh is a straightforward spot for those craving hearty Malaysian-Indian flavors in Ampang Jaya, with a clear nod to the food culture of Ipoh. Located just off Jalan Kolam Air Lama, it’s a practical choice for lunch or dinner, especially if you’re looking for familiar nasi kandar and biryani-style dishes without fuss.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is unpretentious, with a mix of air-conditioned rooms and open-air seating, catering to different preferences, whether you want to beat the heat or enjoy fresh air. Parking is rarely an issue here thanks to a spacious lot right in front, which makes it convenient for a quick meal after work, weekend family visits, or even a casual meet-up before local errands or prayers at nearby Masjid TAR.

Beriani Ipoh’s menu focuses on staple favorites like Nasi Tomato with Fried Chicken, Beriani Ayam Merah, and a Chicken Chop option. The portions tend to be generous, fitting for groups or anyone who appreciates filling local dishes. While some plates like Chicken Madras and tomato rice get positive nods for flavor, lighter eaters might find the servings substantial enough to share or save for later. The range also hints at classic roadside-style options like roti canai, capati, and eggs tosai, giving a sense of a traditional Malaysian-Indian plate variety.

The vibe is casual and family-friendly, attracting locals who have ties to Ipoh or simply want a taste of its local food heritage while staying in Selangor. It works well for post-sports fuel-ups (families have come here after pickleball sessions), informal group lunches, or small gatherings—enough space is available to host modest-sized events without feeling cramped. The staff come across as welcoming and approachable, adding to the easygoing dining experience rather than a polished, upscale atmosphere.

For those who have grown up around the Ipoh food scene or want a straightforward, unfussy meal with hints of nostalgic Malaysian flavors, Beriani Ipoh fits right in. The best times to drop by are around weekday lunch or early dinner, avoiding peak hours when the place is bustling but still lively enough to feel like a local hub.

They have one of the best and freshest nasi lemak in town (Ampang, KL)! The portion is generous and very filling. The staff are very friendly too. Well recommended

We came here for an early lunch, after our family pickleball session. We were not that hungry yet, but since Najwa suggested going to this restaurant, the name "Ipoh" immediately attracted all of us.. All our children grew up in Ipoh, when I used to manage my business there. They all grew up with the routine selections of biryani dishes, and we definitely misses those good old days. Hence, this opportunity served as the perfect time to rekindle old memories. This restaurant is actually located on the first floor level, not to be mistaken with the one selling Nasi Lemak on the ground floor. You need to be very careful when climbing up the stairs, as it is an external open staircase, which could prove to be quite slippery after a heavy downpour. As you arrived on the upper level, you could see the surrounding views on all 3 sides which are open to the outside. It felt quite airy, and comfortable. But a visit to the male toilet was a major turn off for me, as the the upkeep was clearly wanting... My wife quickly ordered the Biryani with Honey Chicken, while I went for the Biryani Chicken with Mutton Korma. I lost track of what the children ordered, but my combination dish was out of this world!! Unfortunately, we were seated in the small and crampy dining room, where we totally missed the airiness and potential views. That was another major regret for me. Hopefully, we could have a better experience next time...

We were a group of four who decided to check this place out for Friday lunch before heading over to perform Friday prayers at Masjid TAR nearby. One big plus point straight away — there’s a huge car park right in front of the restaurant, so no stress about finding parking in the middle of the day. Walking up to the restaurant, you get that instant “Ipoh meets nasi kandar” vibe. The dining area is on the upper floor, open-air and breezy, with a nice view of the Ampang neighborhood and hills in the distance. The setup is simple but welcoming — long tables, casual seats, and plenty of space to move around. You can tell it’s the kind of spot that gets busy during lunch breaks, but it doesn’t feel cramped. The first thing that grabs your attention is the buffet-style counter. Big shiny woks filled with curries, fried chicken piled high, daging masala simmering away, and all the different gravies you’d expect from a nasi beriani joint. There’s also a section with claypots and fresh ulam with sambal on the side — a nice touch that makes it feel homely. I went for a mix of nasi beriani and nasi minyak (best of both worlds), topped with kari kambing and daging masala. Honestly, it hit the spot. The rice was fluffy and fragrant, the kambing tender with just the right amount of spice, and the daging masala rich and flavorful. The kind of meal that makes you pause for a moment before diving in for round two. Price-wise, it’s fair for the quality and portion. The menu is pretty extensive too — you’ve got ayam merah, ayam bawang, ayam Madras, kari kambing, plus lighter stuff like roti canai, roti telur, and even desserts like ais kacang and cendol. Drinks are your usual mamak favorites: teh tarik, kopi, Milo, sirap bandung. Basically, something for everyone. What I like most about this place is how convenient and fuss-free it is. Big car park, spacious seating and great food that doesn’t disappoint. It’s also super practical for those coming for Friday prayers at Masjid TAR — makan dulu, then solat, then go back to work with a happy stomach. Will I come again? Definitely yes. Next time I’ll probably try the ayam bawang and maybe throw in some roti canai for good measure. Beriani Ipoh has that “repeat visit” kind of charm — simple, tasty, and reliable.

The foods are delicious. I ate tomato rice with Chicken Madras. Tastes awesome. I also ate capati and egg tosai. The menu is special and difficult to find like chicken masala, chicken madras. There is open-air and also closed-room air-conditioned. The staff is friendly. So far, everything is good there.

You can held a small event here. They serve all kinds of food from nasi lemak, mi kari, satay, mi goreng, chicken chop, nasi briyani, poori, capati, lempeng and etc. Teh tarik iced: good, tastes more tea than milk Mi kari: ok not bad, could be better. But the portion is alot, with chicken, fish cake, fish ball and tofu Nasi beriani: good Chicken chop: you make take a pass on this Mi goreng: is the star of the show Sate: you get more meat than fat but the sauce is sweet n spicy

So my boss brought me here for a coaching session the other day so wasn’t able to enjoy the food then so decided to bring my family this round. The Briyani chicken is wonderful, although they only had lamb curry so I couldn’t enjoy the rice with curry because I’m not a fan of lamb curry, but even without it was tasty. The restaurant is a bit different, they also serve Western food, nasi lemak and Poori or Chapati, which is great - a new teh panas place to lepak. My only eh is that it’s located one floor up and the only way up is steel- narrow stairs, so if you have elderly folks who have difficulty walking then this place will prove to be challenging to climb. It’s not a five but a four because the fries for the chicken chop were burnt, chicken was tasty though. My other eh is that the charges weren’t clear as there isn’t an itemised bill, it’s just a roundup of the cost so they should have proper billing for the customers. For my set, four drinks, one briyani with two chicken, one chicken chop and one mee Mamak it cost us RM70 and I have no idea how much each costed us, just ask for the list next time if you intend to go, otherwise it does seem a bit to the higher end of the price of a briyani. My last eh was When i asked whether they have Poori that I can order, one staff said at 3pm onwards and another said starting 8.30 am already have while the sign says 11.30 operating hours so it’s very confusing no? Anyways try having lunch there, briyani was tasty eitherway.

I’m having dinner at Beriani Ipoh, located in Ampang Jaya. Their specialty is Beriani, served with a variety of flavorful dishes. The Beriani is available from 10 AM to 10 PM. At night, they offer other dishes like nasi lemak, bakso, ikan bakar, and various fried items. The nasi lemak was rich and flavorful, with a nice “berlemak” taste. The sambal was top-notch—perfectly balanced between spicy and slightly sweet. The bakso soup was also delicious; I believe they made the broth using beef stock, which gave it a deep, hearty flavor. The environment here is pleasant, and the service is fast and efficient. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy comforting, well-cooked meals.
